What can you do...
- to voice your concerns about the known health effects of diesel bus emissions?
- to insist that the use of Edmonton's trolleybus system and vehicles be truly maximized, as directed by Council?
- to indicate your support for the construction of modest and logical extensions to the trolley system?
- to ensure that behaviours that reduce environmental degradation--like trolleybuses--really are supported in the realization of the Transportation Master Plan, as it promises?
- to voice your support for the retention of electric trolleybus service in Edmonton in the future?
- to ensure that citizens' views are heard?
- Read through this and other related sites to familiarize yourself with the issues.
- At election time, question candidates for City Council to find out their views on this topic; support candidates whose attitudes and visions include continuing and/or expanding our clean, quiet trolleybus service with your vote.
- Write a letter to the Edmonton Journal, the Edmonton Sun or the Edmonton Examiner.
- Call your City Councillor or write a letter to City Council or the Mayor.
- Write to the Department of Transportation and Streets and send a copy to your Councillor.
- Call the Citizens Action Centre.
- Council deliberates and approves the City's annual Budget each November. There are public hearings at which citizens may speak. Check the City of Edmonton website for further information or call the City Clerk's Office for information or to sign up to speak to Council.
- Talk to your friends, neighbors and relatives and urge them to speak out on this issue.
- Become active in advocacy groups that voice support for quality public transit like the Edmonton Trolley Coalition or Citizens for Better Transit or groups with environmental or health related aims.
